Dongping National Forest Park is situated in the north-middle part of China. It is at a distance of around 12 kilometers from Nanmen Harbor and borders in the south part the Jianshi town. The east, west and north sides are joined with Shanghai Dongfeng Farm. The dimensions of the park are 1700 meters in length along east to west and about 1400-2800 meters in width from south to north. This covers a total area of 3 and a half. This makes it the largest man made plains forest in East-China. In Shanghai it also has the recognition as the largest forest park.

Dongping National Forest Park has its predecessor as the Dongping forestry center. In the year 1959 it had its land reclamation and formation. After 30 years of forest construction it is now formed in a definite scale. The characteristics of the forest are its loneliness, wildness, elegance which comes with clear lake, forest and beautiful surroundings. For indulging yourself in non-stop pleasure and the nature there are many spots.

Inside the park are multi-function conference center, Forest bathing beach, Forest bar, Beach volley ball court, Water amusement park, Horse race grounds, Tent, Orchard, Windmill and many more things to spend time. The main things to enjoy are the Hunting, Forest sunbathing, Forest grass skiing, Colored bullet shooting, Rock climbing etc. The park was opened in 1989 and began receiving the tourists from different places in the early 90s. Since its formation the park has witnessed a constant but great number of visitors coming to enjoy the beauty of the nature and cherish the memories taken from there. The name Dongping National Forest Park was given to the park in June 1993 by the Ministry of Forestry. This was because of the continuous improvements in every aspect of the forest park. In the year 1997 it was chosen as one of the Shanghai Best Ten Vocational Scenic Spots.

The plans for the future involve integrating forest sightseeing in the park, healthy resting, vocational resorts, conference touring, etc. It also has in its plan to be attraction resorts for the tourists from the country and abroad.
